PLOT
Gao Mikado, a sixth-year student at the Aibo Academy Elementary Division, is teamed with Bal Dragon, a monster who sprang from a mystifying egg and is known as the Dragon of the Sun. Gao and Bal team up to compete in the "World Buddy Cup" against other fighters in an effort to claim the coveted title of strongest fighter in the world. In a card game called Buddyfight, which enables monsters to fight with humans as pals, the two will have to engage in combat with other players. Their competitors include former Buddy Police Tasuku Ryuenji and the duo that they themselves claim to be the strongest, Gaito Kurouzu and his companion monster Black Death Dragon, Abygale. Evildoers are attempting to obtain Bal's unique skills in the meantime. Kyoya Gaen is up to no good with his monster pal Demonic Demise Dragon, Azi Dahaka. One of the wealthiest figures in Japan, Kyoya is also thought to be among the world's top Buddyfighters. What goal could they possibly have in mind?
