PLOT
A junior high school student named Yta Togashi suffered from "chniby" during the time, dubbing himself the "Dark Flame Master," believing he had supernatural abilities, and isolating himself from his peers as a result. Yta tries to start high school where he knows no one, away from his old illusions, because he finds his history embarrassing. However, this turns out to be challenging because Rikka Takanashi, a deluded student in his class, becomes intrigued by Yta after finding out about his history. As the story develops, Rikka grows closer to Yta, who accepts her despite finding her delusions annoying and unpleasant. He tutors Rikka and assists her in starting and running her club, among other things. The "Far-East Magical Napping Society - Summer Thereof" is the club in question and also contains the always dozing Kumin Tsuyuri, former chniby Shinka Nibutani, and current chniby Sanae Dekomori. When Yta travels with Rikka on her summer vacation, Yta finds out that two years ago, Rikka's father, with whom she had a close relationship, passed away suddenly from a terminal illness, which led to her developing delusions. Rikka becomes romantically attracted to Yta after he offers to assist her in her hunt for the "Ethereal Horizon," which she hopes would take her to her father.
