PLOT
Third-year middle school student Aichi Sendou is a shy person who has always looked backwards rather than forward in life. But the only thing keeping him safe is a card named "Blaster Blade" that was given to him when he was a young child. Then a cool-headed high schooler named Kai Toshiki introduces "Vanguard," a card game, to Aichi. When players battle, they imagine themselves on the planet "Klay," and because Vanguard features a never-before-seen game system, it has grown in popularity around the world. Aichi quickly enjoys Vanguard and begins to play it with his friends Misaki Togura and Kamui Katsuragi, as well as others such as his new competitor, who is one of the best Vanguard players, Kai. When Aichi competes against Kai, Kai will understand Aichi's value because he plays every day and works tirelessly to improve.
